1st Clock is a Dr. File Finder Favorite!
Please read his review of 1st Clock here:
"...There are clocks, and then there are clocks! And 1st Clock, by Green Parrots Software, is
a full-featured clock utility that's really slick! I have to say I was
impressed. Maybe because it's a clock and so much more. First off, like any
good clock, it shows the time. And the date. But, it also has
a feature that lets you add different time zones. So, for example, I have
clients in other countries like Australia. I added that time zone and now
when I move my mouse over the display I see
the current time in Australia as well as other information. Cool! The
program can sit on your desktop or it can become a part of the
Windows "tray" where the Windows clock normally appears.
1st Clock has a number of configurable options and I always like
that. You can make the program look the way you want by changing
colors and fonts. The program also shows you both memory and CPU
usage and that's helpful information to have. Another really nice feature
is the ability to set alarms. You can create alarms "on-the-fly" for things
that come up like "Call Bob! In 10 minutes!" or you can create alarms
that go off on a regular basis. If you like you can assign
different icons to each alarm and the program comes with
a large number of icons to choose from. Use them to "group" alarms
by task or whether they are business or family related. Your alarms
can utilize sounds, which I find very helpful when I'm busy. So, not
only does a window pop-up showing my reminder, but I get a sound to
make sure I notice the alarm. Heck, if you want you can even launch
programs with the alarm function. And if all this weren't enough, there's more!
The alarm function in 1st Clock has a "snooze" function just like most
alarm clocks. Plus each alarm has options you can configure when you create
the alarm. The program makes sure you're always on time by including a
way to synchronize your computers clock with atomic time servers. You can
do this manually or you can have the program do it automatically. It even
compensates for Daylight Savings Time. Lots of good servers to pick
from -- I used the one from NIST here in Colorado.
Going beyond the time, 1st Clock also gives you a calendar function.
That's really handy when someone is asking you about a date for doing
something. With just a couple of mouse clicks you can be in the
calendar and you can set alarms right from there. Slick, quick, and
easy. And speaking of easy, the program has an intuitive interface
that's easy-to-use and that makes it perfect for users with all
levels of experience. Can't ask for much more than that.
1st Clock, by Green Parrots Software, is a handy utility
program that packs a lot of power under the hood. It gives you
quick access to date, time, alarms, reminders, and a calendar. The program
is highly configurable and lets you make the program look how you
want it to look. Use colors, fonts, sounds, icons, and more to get
just the effect you want. Keep in sync using atomic clocks, keep
track of your system resources, and much more. This is the nicest
program of it's kind that I've ever looked at. So, not only is it
a "Pick", but I'm also making it a Dr. File Finder Favorite and
those are few and far between. So, if you're looking for a way
to keep track of time, check out dates, and remind yourself of
things you have to do, this is a program you have to try. I recommend it!..."
